My 1st year as full time artist

annaobertart

It has been a year since I made the brave decision to work as a full-time artist in London.
And it's time to be honest about it... I decided to do it full time for growing opportunities I initially received but then had to invent a way to keep doing it.
Dedicating myself to art every day has improved my artistic skills and stimulated my creativity a lot. I have created things I never imagined I could do, met people from my own world and worked for companies and shops thanks to my courses.
I discovered a particular passion for teaching and participated in the most famous markets in London. In short, looking back, I congratulate myself on the progress.
Obviously, however, making my passion my job also brought several downsides. Leaving aside the obvious ones, including the freelancer's salary, which is never predictable, and the increasingly unaffordable cost of living in London, there is one in particular that has affected me the most: the loneliness.
I love being alone with myself but I hate having to manage everything that a small business entails, alone. Marketing, social media, accounting, business plans, goals, etc. devour the time I would like to spend creating and coming up with new ideas.
Having your own business overall is incredibly satisfying (In my opinion, it is already a success to decide to open one!) So don't give up or stop believing in what you're doing!
It might be difficult for the first period (someone told me even 3/4 years...I hope not) but it will be the most beautiful creature you could make! :)
